Washington (CNN)White House chief of staff John Kelly said he believes the vast majority of undocumented immigrants crossing the southern border into the US do not assimilate well because they are poorly educated.

"Let me step back and tell you that the vast majority of the people that move illegally into United States are not bad people. They're not criminals. They're not MS13," Kelly told NPR in an interview released late Thursday, referring to the criminal gang. "But they're also not people that would easily assimilate into the United States into our modern society."
The former secretary of the Department of Homeland Security said the undocumented immigrants don't speak English and are "overwhelmingly rural people" from countries where "fourth-, fifth-, sixth-grade educations are kind of the norm."
"They don't integrate well; they don't have skills. They're not bad people. They're coming here for a reason. And I sympathize with the reason. But the laws are the laws," he went on to say.

There are two or three cases in DAP that personify that sentiment. Fortunately, it doesn't apply to the vast majority of immigrants. Regardless, very poor judgment from flake Kelly to make statements like that. He's is just another xenophobic POS.

That's why he killed the DACA deal, he doesn't want immigrants in the country.

Post the whole interview

He wants path to citizenship for TPS

Which means he wants the same for DACA

Rejoice!

Yeah, and he wants everything but the kitchen sink in return. If he'd negotiate in good faith, we'd be on our way to legal status. Kelly is part of the problem.

What a bunch of baloney!

Most previous waves of immigrants have been also low skilled, poorly educated.

But guess what? Most of their descendents go on to live the American Dream.

Yes we need more skilled immigration but we shouldn't turn on backs on hard working people, regardless of what grade they achieved in their home country.

Some people are happy doing lawn work while others prefer to go to school and gain a skill.

Both are equally important to the economy

Tired of ignorant people that don't want to open up to others. This is too much!

I'm sure that might be true for some people who never make an attempt to assimilate - never listen to any English radio or go to English websites; don't have any friends outside of their own countrymen, etc. but some of that is a chicken and egg situation where they can't assimilate because they are afraid to come out of the shadows.

It's 100% BS for dreamers though.

Everything?

Reduction in legal immigration is absolutely a good deal
