My American born 21yo brother is currently petitioning my mom. We filled out all the correct paperwork and sent them out the day of his birthday. On their website it says they received everything on August 7th. I know it’s still early and it’s only been 3 months but does anyone have any experience with this?

If everything goes well how long until she gets a response? I’m very eager for my mom to become a resident especially on today’s climate.

Has she gone to do her biometrics fingerprints yet?

No, she hasn’t gotten a letter for that yet. Online it still says they’ve received her application on August 7th.

You might wanna do a E-request online or call USCIS and ask why they haven't sent her a biometric appointment letter. That's almost 4 months of waiting. She should have gotten a letter by now. What forms did your brother file for your mom?

We had a very experienced notary fill out the forms for us. My useless brother didn’t do anything except turn 21. I paid for everything. We were told to not expect a response for a few months but now I’m wondering if I should call.

Just FYI you should never use notaries for immigration related stuff. Lots of scammers out there. You should have used a lawyer or someone accredited to file those forms for you. Has this notary helped other people with immigration related stuff? This sounds very FISHY. You should have received a Notice of action letter in the mail in the first month saying they received your case. YOU NEED TO CALL THIS NOTARY AND FIND OUT WHATS GOING ON! Have you not received any letter in the mail???? I really hope you weren't scammed.... READ THIS ITS FROM USCIS OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT WEBSITE, READ THE PART WHERE IT SAYS "notario publico" https://www.uscis.gov/avoid-scams/common-scams

What Venus said! You should have just used a lawyer. Yes it might be more expensive but def worth it.

I became a US Citizen back in March of this year, and petitioned my parents, in June when we had the money. My dad's is a little more complicated, so it will take time. But my mom is an overstay, and went super fast too. We got receipts saying they got everything, like a week after the packet went out. Then got a notice for my mom to do her biometrics 1 month after they received the application, and then just last month, towards the end of Oct, can't remember the exact date, she got her green card in the mail. So basically, from June when we sent the applications out, well the lawyer, to October, when she got her green card in the mail is how fast my moms process took.

Stop yelling lol. Yes we trust this notary, it wasn’t some random person off of Craigslist. Yes she’s helped people we know before and we haven’t even paid her completely yet. She said to pay her when everything is finished.

And yes my mom received a letter in the mail saying that they received her case in August. I never said she didn’t. All I was asking for was a timeline for people who have been through the processs. Thanks for worrying though.
