Are we as dreamers with DACA eligible for unemployment benefits? I'm in the state of Texas. Just got laid off.

Thanks

yes, as long as your EAD is still valid, you can have unemployment benefits.

Anyone applied?

I know unemployment benefits is not public charge from the new USCIS guideline, would it be possible in the future if Trump is re-elected and issue more strict guideline?

That’s what I am scared off also. I applied for someone else with an EAD because she is older and doesn’t know how to use computers very well. It just asked for her Alien number after saying no to being an US citizen. I read somewhere that they won’t use the time of the coronavirus pandemic against you but I am still scared to apply. I am thinking of not applying since I am on furlough and hopefully should be back to work by May/June.

I applied. Have not received any paperwork, call from EDD in CA. Been over 10 days. They must be hammered with claims. Will call them on Monday see if they have processed my claims. First time applying so not sure how EDD works.

Well, I finally got an update on my case (filed in NY), they wanted a copy (front and back) of my EAD and Social Security Card. Notice was dated April 17th and arrived yesterday. Mailed it back to them with the copies.

Now fingers crossed that I'll be approved soon.
