Quote:
... The federal judge in charge of the Texas challenge had deferred ruling on the Obama question until the Supreme Court issued its decision on the Dreamers, as they’re called. U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen on Thursday gave lawyers for both sides until July 24 to tell him how they think the decision affects the Texas case. He said he’d set a timetable for resuming the case after receiving those reports.

Hanen ruled in 2015 that Obama did skip required federal procedures, and usurped Congress’s authority over immigration, by issuing the executive order that protects Dreamers’ parents, a companion program known as DAPA.

In 2018, in a 117-page ruling, the judge declined to halt DACA protections on the emergency basis Texas requested because it would disrupt a popular program and suspend Dreamers’ ability to work and travel freely while the challenge plays out.

But he said he believed DACA was undermined by the same procedural flaws as DAPA. That leaves Dreamers back on uncertain legal ground when the Texas challenge resumes.
Enjoy this one month or so of downtime and get ready to get back onto the emotional rollercoaster in July.

24K DACAers in the medical field fighting COVID19. No way that affects Tejas and DACA isn't DAPA, different scenarios completely. Worst case scenario this lawsuit ends up in SCOTUS next year. But it lacks merits.

Doesn't matter what Hanen says. Some other judge in CA, NY will rule DACA to be constitutional. Two different opinions. SC will step in again and will hear the validity of DACA. SC will let DACA continue until they hear the case about DACA's constitutionality or they can simply refuse to hear the case and wait for Trump to end it legally and hear that case. Either way, we are good for at least till the new year. Now if Trump wins, nobody is safe. Not even the Trumptards in this forum.

Yeah and this is a GOP issue in general. Hanen isn't making any moves this summer. You have Corynrn over here basically sounding like every democrat on this issue. https://twitter.com/JohnCornyn/statu...91416162701312 and he's even posting tweets in Spanish LOL

The party moves as one. Roberts gave Trump and the GOP a lifeline to not have this as an election-year issue. I doubt the party would allow Hanen to screw it up.

Republicans won’t kill DACA on a election year. Even a majority of Republican voters believe we deserve to stay. The only reason we don’t have a DACA deal is because of Mitch McConnell, Miller, and Trump. Those hoes poison pill the hell out of the bills and Mitch won’t put any bill up for a vote because he’s a cunt.

Exactly.

The US Supreme Court did not rule on the constitutionality of the termination of DACA. You don't need to be an attorney to know that this case was a punt by Roberts, which will actually give Trump enough time to avoid DACA and run on the economy.

Democrats in the Congress already have said they don't have time to pass any CIR/DACA fix.

Sleepy Joe will lose and Republicans will keep the Senate. We will be at square one next year.

2020 is cancelled.

That is what they were elected to do (pass the most conservative bills). Sry as long as this admin remains in power the people who will have to bend backwards and settle will be the Dems. You can't pass "Clean DA" through Mitchy's Senate and get it signed by Trumpster.
