I've been making very little money pet and house sitting for different people for the past year ish as my only income, about $100 a week, and I was wondering if any of you would declare this in your i-765WS where it asks how much you make a year since I'm not declaring it for tax purposes - it's unnecessary since its so low and I'm not formally employed by a company or person or even regularly so I believe I can't put anything down on i-765 where it asks for the "employer's name as listed on E-Verify" and for "company id #."

Any recommendations or thoughts on how to go about this?

Not a legal recommendation here, but I do remember putting down a zero in a similar situation as yours.

Tbh, you could also write down a positive number 1k,2k, whatever it is. It shouldn't be an issue.

i put whatever is on my tax return. if you're not making the $10,000 to have to file a tax return, i would just skip it. i don't think income affects your approval anyways.

I want to put it on the application only because of the small chance of today's bill passing but I'm not sure pet/ house sitting for a year would even qualify as employment... (the bill asks for a minimum of 3 years of employment.) What do you think?

Are you enrolled in college (or have completed it)? - I'm guessing no since you're asking about the employment method, but just wanted to make sure that you knew the other paths.

As for what I think... I think in your case it wouldn't hurt to put down whatever income you had. Also, if you think the employment method will be important for you down the road, I would highly recommend you file taxes (even if you do not owe anything!). I would guess the government will rely more on tax returns (amongst other things) and not so much on i765-WS for determining your employment history.

There are other benefits of filling taxes - stimulus checks (assuming your parents do not claim you), EITC - if you are of age, and refundable credits (i.e., American Opportunity/Lifetime Learning Credit).
