So under his immigration law SB 1718 it's considered "human smuggling" to drive/accompany someone who is an illegal immigrant. I have family there and would like to spend a week. I have a state ID/driver's license from my state for undocumented immigrants and also a valid passport. Can either be used to fly to and from Florida? I have no intentions of driving while there.

Don't go to Florida.

Yeah don't risk it. Eventually, their law will be struck down but in the meantime, you don't want to get caught up in it.

Also, fuck Florida.

Doesn't seem to be much of a negative impact on Florida Economy so far.

I'm guessing the undocumented people who live there are already established and have nowhere else to go. And the Cubans who live there support it so they won't do anything in solidarity with other Latinos who need help.

if you obey traffic laws, you are fine.

not that much police presence really given that there is tons of tourists

even if you get caught by an officer, they are actually humans if you talk to them. have had some instances and recently i got stopped by a trooper because he thought the tint of my car was too dark and he was really cool, he saw the big "TEMPORARY " letters on my license and was like: "you know what man, im not even gonna bother checking status"

FHP has immigration duties since years ago.

I know of plenty friends and family that has dealt with police here in FL and they have been great. some even gone to court to pay the fine for not having a license with 0 issues.

not that much different from any other state.

the law will be struck down before it even begins to take fully effect, employers here were told that they got until 2024 to comply.

thats one part

the other part is that FL economy WILL go to sht either way because DeSantis signed the insurance and utility bills.

insurances and utilities are going 2-3x already for many, me included.

that is not counting the insane rent increases. FL is now the capital for inflation now that we are getting all those communists moving in from Commiefornia and new york.

With the hurricane passing through, there will be a lot of labor intensive work that will need to be done so it'll be interesting whether the new laws will come to bite them in the ass sooner rather than later. Even if they reverse the law or it's struck down, I don't think any self respecting immigrant, undocumented or otherwise should lift a finger to help them.

I've lived through 2 major hurricanes and a deep freeze that did a lot of damage and I can tell you first hand that with gutting water damaged parts of the house, every hour counts to avoid mold damage.
