If I remember correctly he was trying to get into Portugal and had secured a visa or was in the process of securing one. Genuinely, hope his plan worked out and he is nice and comfy with citizenship.

Also, for Latin Americans if you can secure yourself into 2 years of status in Spain they will grant you Citizenship. Sometimes, I wonder if I made a mistake staying with DACA when I could've moved on to other places.

For example, Spain has Nationalized healthcare, Low cost education, etc. Canada has express entry and I think I'm within the top two bands and they just issue you permanent residency. Its like here you go tiger, we know you can get a job. You worry about that only. Its so wild. None of: visa for 30 years in the chance for residency, or wait 20 years for residency outside the country. Lmfao. Various other countries do similar things with various other conditionals.

I left the US in late 2019 following a serious mental illness.

In mid 2021 I immigrated to Portugal.

One year later I got a remote job based in Poland and traveled all over Europe and even Africa together with my dog.

In late 2023 I moved back to Brazil after a layoff at the Polish company.

I decided not to return to Portugal (not a recommended destination if you want to make money) and allowed my residency to expire.
