I am from Afghanistan. Am I screwed? I am kinda nervous about this. They said paused indefinitely. And I wanted to renew my DACA a year earlier and send it in February next year in 2026.

It’s my understanding that USCIS has stopped the processing of all immigration requests for Afghan nationals indefinitely. The suspension of Afghan immigration requests does not directly impact the DACA program itself.

However, DACA recipients can lose their status if they are convicted of certain crimes or are deemed a threat to national security. My guess is USCIS will look at your case closely and make a decision if you’re deemed a national security threat or not. My suggestion is to stay out of trouble and write a good letter on why you deserve an opportunity to stay.

Thanks, I am hoping it will get challenged in court. It’s like collective punishment. I was hoping to do AOS but might have to hold it off until after Trump presidency, I just want to survive Stephen Miller FFS. I wish I had been born white sometimes, would make life somewhat easier.

From the looks of it, they are focusing on those who arrived in the U.S. between July 2021 and January 2022 under the Biden administration as refugees. I think you’ll be fine as long as you stay out of trouble, keep a clean record and show good moral character.

I worked with lots of Somalis in my prev life

Honestly, most don't fit in American culture

All they wanted was to milk as much money as possible during the summer and spend it in Somalia during the winter.

They treated USA as nothing more than a money-cow to be milked.

I deeply despise that.

Maybe some immigrants just aren't cut for America.

They have to go.

Well, I don’t think I am safe just by the wording of the memo which clearly states all immigration requests for Afghan nationals will be halted and I would be considered an Afghan national. And some USCIS employees confirmed they were told not to give decisions on cases of people from Afghanistan and now it will include 18 other countries as well and all asylum cases.

Ditto, I have no criminal record, not even a traffic ticket so. But this will get challenged because seems like Stephen Miller now has more draconian laws ready. Now they have included 19 countries in the list and have also halted all asylum cases.

Also, DHS official Twitter called for remigration being the end goal. Unbelievable. That is basically a far right call to deport all of the nonwhite population doesn’t matter legal or not. It is crazy how brazen and bold they are with their racism and hatred.

I don't think they'll actually get what they want from any remigration. It's already not going well for the country under the current mass deportations. With the October jobs numbers still hidden because they are so horrendous. And they can't turn the gaslighting up anymore.

500k deportations and some 1 millon who felt that elsewhere has better opportunities and they bailed on the country. Spoiler: many of the top politicians, or their families have secret double or even triple nationality. it's just like all the Chinese top level with family with western citizenship. It's like proving a negative.
