Sen. DeMint (R-SC) illegally accepted campaign contributions above the legal limit. He agreed to a $25,000 fine by the FEC.

Quote:
Federal Election Commissioners have approved an agreement by which Sen. Jim DeMint's (R-S.C.) campaign will pay a $25,000 fine for accepting contributions above legal limits, according to files made public Friday.
So when Sen. DeMint breaks the law and pays a fine as punishment, it's not amnesty. But when there's a plan that lets undocumented immigrants pay a fine as punishment for coming into the country illegally, its an amnesty according to Sen. DeMint and his ilk. Rank hypocrisy is a polite term to use in this case.

We all know the double standard is something deeper than politics or "the law is the law". Something on the gut level drives people like DeMint.

Yes I'm accusing him of nativism. What a stinking hypocrite. It's the same exact thing morally, but of course if someone from south of the border commits a civil infraction and pays a fine, it's the worst thing in the world and the death knell for our country.

Please...

Did you honestly expect something more from a politician?
