Ok so i didn't want to hijack anyones thread so here i go:

If dream act passes, how long will it take to go in full effect? and would report cards and both high school and middle school diplomas be acceptable to prove that we've been here long enough?

another thing, i have 2 cousins that were deported but back in the States, they have been here since they were toddlers, they graduated highschool, attended college for more than 3 years and they are both on their mid 20's. do you think there's hope for them?

and one last thing, if dream act passes, would a lawyer help speed up the process of gettin our papers?

well thanks for reading and i hope someone can answer these questions. thanks.

Isn't coming back into the country illegally after being deported a felony? If so, i don't think your cousins would qualify for dream or CIR.

I don't think your cousins would benefit. But I think it can be used to justify a waiver for the 10 year bar.

Take a look.

well they came back about a month after they were deported, they are 23 and 25 yrs old. and i really didn't want to get into detail because i didn't want to make things worse. They were caught in SF and then referred to immigration so i guess they made them sign themselves out of the country but im not completely sure about that.

can anyone answer the other other questions please?

We don't know for sure, but we're guessing around 6 months to implement everything. Report cards and diplomas are both acceptable forms of proof.

It may speed up the process, but seeing that a lot of people got screwed over by lawyers in the first place and why many are in the situation they are in today, I would fill the paperwork on my own and save some money. I'm guessing that some of the forms we fill out will cost us money anyway.

But then again, if you have a competent lawyer, it would be easier so you wouldn't have to worry about filing all the required forms in case you miss one.

Yea i know there's been so many cases where immigrants get ripped off by these "lawyers" but i just can't believe how they can be so naive and believe everything they promise. But well at least we have the DAP and we'll all help each other when IT PASSES. btw thanks for answering my questions.
