Hey, since I fall under this act that protects foster teens and gives them papers (and pay college, who knew!!!!) , I'm thinking about doing it.

But at the same time it's discoursing because you know how they send you back and forth, and sometimes you get abused and all of that.

Should I do it? take a poll, by the way, I'm 17, and I just wouldn't like get moved from my high school (is a really good magnet school )

Check with a lawyer to see if you are eligible for this. If he or she says you are and it can make you legal, then go for it. Really Really make sure it's a good, reputable lawyer.

I honestly believe this is only a decision that you can make &/or choose to pursue. You might also want to get either a reputable lawyer to talk about this OR certain specialized services that actually pursue these types of cases for free. They should be able to work with the social worker who is handling your case.

A schoolmate of mine was either orphan or physically abused i think and lived as a foster child in a big foster-like institution ala YMCA. From what I remember he was from Mexico City and became legal this way. Moved to Cali, got a degree in CGI, is making ~100k a year and is working w/pixar and other CGI related companies. It seems to works apparently.

Hm, I don't think you can rely on other people's opinions on this one. We don't really know what your situation is, if this act is 100% real or anything. In the end, though, it's up to you, it's your life, no one else can tell you what to do with it.

The benefit is available & 100% real until the age of 20,when he reaches the age of 21 it isn't possible to apply anymore. It usually takes time for the application to go through but while it is pending he would have work authorization during the entire time the application is processing until the adjustment interview.

Although this benefit gives the Irvinsote the option of adjustment,it also comes with conditions & the biggest one is that he can never sponsor for his parents when/if he becomes a US citizen.

Is the "condition" a contractual obligation or more of a moral suggestion?
