Ok, I know many like me are planning on traveling to various places soon.
Some would like to go to places such as Maryland or Washington state to possibly acquire a license or a ID.
Some people would like to travel just for the sake of traveling(vacations, etc)

Anyhow, I am making this thread so that we can share questions and concerns about traveling, and for those who has done it( traveled by plane, car, train etc). Your experience and story will be highly appreciated.

Anyways, I do realize that no matter what route you take( plane- tsa officers, car-checkpoints, greyhound etc) that there are always going to be risked.

But I am making this thread so that hopefully we can limit those risk, and hopefully further prepare all of us in our travel.

thanks and GO DREAM ACT!

*Im hoping that this thread stays on the 1st page, so everyone that has a question will look here first.

-I usually ride the greyhound when traveling, either that or car. I have taken the routes of Las Vegas to LA to the bay area, and back. I have also taken the inland valley route (fresno, bakersfield, barstow to Vegas) All of the times, I have been ok, they have not once check ID's, just checked the ticket and let me board the bus. Only one scary moment, was when Dept. Of Corrections let some inmates (Fresh outta jail) board the greyhound lol. It seems like, only the eastcoast states have been put on high alert, b/c ICE has realized that a lot of undocumented can get ID's in Maryland. Im not sure of routes going into WA though. Just some words of advice, try to blend in with everyone, don't look scared and don't attract attention, the greyhound employees main objective is not to detect if you are illegal or not, its to check your bags, and make sure you board the right bus. A Greyhound employee had told me that, on Amtraks, they do check ID's, to match with your tickets, at least in CA. I don't know if that is entirely true, but thats what was said to me.

-As far as checkpoints, I recently took a coach tour bus, to grand canyon. going in and out of Arizona there are checkpoints. Although on a coach bus they did not check each and every person, the just checked the bus. Now i realized with cars, the cops were checking and talking to the driver. They would look around the car, and i think i even saw one of them check for a DL.

-Last time i flew was in 2003, and my Student ID was good enough, but at that time i was still a minor. I am very close to a TSA employee, and there main focus is not to check your immigration status. As long as you have an unexpired valid passport then you are fit to board a plane. There more worried about your document being fake. This is what was told by me, as it is stated in their policy when they go to training for this job. Although all TSA employees are different, so i can only speak of the state NV.

I have a military spouse ID.. could I fly by plane?
I was told that all you need is plane ticket and a government issued ID. Mine obviously is.
I went all the way to the terminal to pick up a 6 year old from a flight and also to put him back on the plane. I went through security and everything with my military ID.
So do I have anything to worry about flying from one state to the other?

thankss

Hi guys.
I am planning a trip from Denver to LA at the end of May and I am wondering how safe is the route (via I-70 and I-15)?
Ed mentioned checkpoints at AZ border and a small portion of I-15 is in AZ. Should I look for a detour to avoid this state?
Any other advice to make it safe in and out of LA?

Dont cut through AZ when you are coming from Denver. Cut through NV, the route should be from Denver, you cut through Utah, then NV (Las Vegas) then CA. Totally bypassing AZ.

Hey guys I want to travel from Utah to Chicago, IL during winter break, I wonder if anyone's done anything similar or if they have any advice. I plan to drive there but does anyone think it'd be safer to take a bus.
