I am currently a starting senior in HS, and I've really come to the realization that I might not be able to even go to college because of my situation.

For my backround, I came to the US in 2001, so I've been living here for 9 years.
My parents do own a cleaners but because of all the bills and debts in acquiring the store, we don't really have much money to spare.
What really makes me kick myself is how bad I did in high school. My GPA is around 3.5-6. I'm in the NJROTC program in my school, but not in much extra-curricular activities, only Honor Society.
I have taken 3 AP classes so far, but didn't fare so well in the AP tests, getting a 2, 3, 3.
My SAT scores currently aren't much to be impressed by either, 590 on reading and 530 on math. I'm going to retake the SAT's to hopely raise that score.

I've looked for scholarships on Fastweb.com and Scholarships.com but most that are listed to me seem like either they require a SS, which I do not have, or require me to write about a subject I know nothing about like Ecology and how it affects us.

I feel like because of my lazyness in HS, this is going to backfire on my future badly, and also if I even get accepted into a college, I won't be able to pay for it.

Can you guys give me advice on what might be the best for my situation? I really have hit rock bottom in my mind on my options and searching for new chances.

Hi and welcome!

Many of us here have been able to go to college. Please browse through our forum, specially this thread here to learn what strategies some of us have taken:

Hope this helps!

Also, I recommend that you explore community college. You can go there for cheap for two years and then transfer to a university. It will also give you the chance to hone in on your basic skills before tackling higher level courses

Thank you for your welcome
I've actually been lurking these forums for a bit time, and I have actually seen the thread that you've linked.
From the thread I'm getting that I can either go to CC, or apply to a Private College where I can explain my situation to the admissions office and see where that takes me.
I'm really looking to going to SUNY(State University of NY) schools such as Stony Brook or Binghamton, but without Financial Aid, is that hope too farfetched?

You should be able to go with instate tuition. If you check out the DreamActivist page you will see there is a guide that explains how to get instate in NY.

I am sure you can gain admission but you have to figure out how to pay. Do you work? Can your parents help?
