Well I just flew into Fort Lauderdale and guess what, as I was coming out of the terminal security check ins, I saw that there was AN ICE agent, checking peoples papers as they were going inside the terminal, I believe they can do this since this is small airport. Who said this Fort Lauderdale IS SAFE!?? Maybe it was an undercover ICE telling us all this time that it was safe to make it a trap!! Well, living in Fort Lauderdale is not safe at all!! First thing I do when I arrive in FTL is go to Dunking Donuts, and what happens??? 1 hour later an CBP patrol agent walks into the freakking thing!! I was so scared, but in the end I think I was never asked anything since I had my luggage still and my laptop open. I mean I look straight Mexican, so I was shocked that they didn't just use that as a thing of suspicion of being undocumented.

I NEED HELP!!! I want to fly out of here, and I definelty won't go to FTL airport anymore , has anyone traveled out of miami international recently??? If you have then any ICE agents checking papers?? If you are an ICE agent replying to this YOU MUST STATE THAT YOU ARE AN ICE AGENT, IT IS FEDERAL LAW!!!

-_____- when will you kids learn.

Do you have a valid ID? (DL or State ID
Yes: No Worries.
No: Dont fly.

Are you using a passport?
Yes, ist it current and up to date?
Yes, does it have a valid Visa?
No, you can fly but there is a risk that they may flip through your passport and get you that way.

Is the a similar law to SB1070 in Florida?
No, Florida is just a immigration port just like any other mayor city, so do expect so see some security in there.

/Theend.

You state there was an ICE agent? At which terminal? FLL has 4. each with several entrances? was this a rogue person, or did you see a coordinated sweep? Its not responsible to panic the community without providing a detailed report of what you saw once you deem yourself safe. And if you were flying, then you have viable ID,therefore no need to panic.

I have seen Border Patrol agents in different airports around the country. If you have a valid U.S. ID, don't worry. JUst show them that, and don't freak out(if they do ask you something). If you are flying with something else, then that's a bad idea, unless you have a valid visa in your passport n stuff.

Well this is the only reason for my panic! I don't have a valid US ID, only foreign passport, and this is not a border patrol agent, THIS IS ICE! What is the difference?? ICE, CBP??? I was in one terminal, how will I go to every terminal to see if they are ICE agents in every terminal?? That is crazy. This ICE agent was checking peoples papers as they came into the security checkpoint (he was flipping through the passports as far as I saw) before going into ticketing( I was coming out to go to baggage claim) , usually the check point is after ticketing. I have never seen an ICE agent only TSA agents checking peoples ID's with their tickets. Anyone else with this experience??

Do ICE agents check for papers in Miami international airport???

Bro,

Calm down, you sound like me when I started.
I cant guarantee you wether or not people will be at MIA checking your papers.

I can offer you this logic:

-If MIA is a BIGGER airport, with MORE people going in an out from it why wouldn't there be ICE personel there? I mean there are already people at a local/smaller airport such as Ft. Lauderdale, why wouldnt they be at the centerfold of immigration gateways that is MIA. Besides, its their job

-YOU are solely responsible for the decisions that you take ultimately. You chose to fly with a passport, so now its time to man up and follow through with it. Changing your ticket will only result in wasting money. Ive had friends do the same exact stunt youre doing right now and they were fine, granted there was no ICE agent at their terminal.

People have different experiences, If I were you, I wouldnt gamble on anyone in this forum replying to you saying "Hey! Ive had that same exact thing, at that same exact airport!"

Then again, I could be wrong =p

Ummmm i KNOW ICE agents enforce immigration law (please don't be smart ass), this is not the point, the point is that I didn't expect them to be there. The logic that I follow is that ICE agents won't be at miami international since there are too many people to check and would make a huge line. Now, since FLL is smaller than they have more time to check for papers, plus I only saw one, I know it will be my own decision but i want input on other personal experiences. Like I said I have never encountered ICE agents at any airport, chicago, san francisco, new york, this was the first time, this may be the whole thing about 100 miles from the border thing.

Flying with a passport without a valid visa is like buying a lottery. You hit the jackpot, you fly.
