This is probably nothing new, but atleast it provides a more or less updated list of senators that we need to target. and as the article states, this MIGHT be the last chance we have. so keep calling.

Keep calling, emailing and faxing those senators!

chessmaster05, do you think you can explain about us having the last chance? Obviously, I had no knowledge of Dream Act until I first heard about it from my mom after she saw it on Univision a few weeks ago.

mmm.. . o.k. look i am no political expert or wiz, i am an engineer in fact, but i do read alot of articles, and talk to alot of people, and every article i read, and people i talk to agree that if we don't see anything regarding immigration, our next window of opportunity will be 2012. now, in 2011 democrats and republicans can reach some type of agreement of enforcement and some type of legalization, but the probability of that happening is pretty low. i just read an article where senator menendez of N.J. said that it is in the lame duck or 2012 and that he is not very optimistic about immigration in the next 2 years.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I am not optimistic about Dream Act being passed this year, but I really hope I am wrong. I am doing anything in my power to get uncertain senators to vote YEA on DA.

I just took a look at the stats here (http://dreamact.info/today). Since we have 160 out of 218 reps who are gonna vote YEA on DA, is that very accurate? I know we have around 53 Democrat senators who will vote YEA on DA, but this DA website says we have 58......Which should I believe?

That list isn't updated. As it stands, the Dream Act will pass the House of Representatives. I don't have the proof, nor the count, but I can assure you that it will.

The only risk is the Senate, where republicans still have the power to filibuster. Last time the Dream Act was voted on, EVERY democrat agreed, but thats because it included therepeal of Dont Ask Dont Tell in it. We lost the Dream Act leaning republicans because of DADT. But keep in mind that we also won democrats who supported DADT. As it stands, we only have 58 YEA, we need 60 and there are some that are leaning towards a YEA. But we must keep calling!

Please stop spreading misinformation. The DREAM Act was not voted on this year, only the cloture vote for the DOD spending bill was. Every Democrat voted for it, but that doesn't mean that every Democrat would have voted for the DREAM Act amendment.

The last time DREAM was voted on was 2007, when 11 Democrats either voted no or didn't vote.

I would love it if Reid would beat these asshole Blue Dog Democrats into voting for DREAM, then we'd only need 2-4 Republicans to vote for it, which is definitely possible. The problem is that the Democratic party has absolutely no unity, so I am expecting about 6 Democrats to vote no, so we need about 6-8 Republicans to vote yes on DREAM next month.

How is this our last chance? 2011 is not the election year.

Do you really think the republicans, many of which were 'Tea Party' candidates, will decide to just say, 'Oh hey, electorate? Yeah, you voted us in because you're a bunch of xenophobic nutcases who want to stick all the illegals into an incinerator, but we're not going to listen to you and pass this act'?

my opinion is if we want the DREAM Act pass, we should add some republican favor amendment into the bill, like border secure and limited the age to 30 etc (if their amendment is reasonable and acceptable). and then they won't have anything to say and against the bill again

i think reid knows this, and well, if you ask me, i think reid will some how compromise, what i'm afraid of is that such comprimise will only give reliefe to a limited number of dreamers. and who are those dreamers that will get relief, only time will tell.
