This is the reason Republicans are so stupid for going hard-right and anti-immigrant. They will not be able to stop demography.

No matter what happens in the next few days, I think we all need to push any family member or friend, who is sympathetic to compassionate immigration reform and can vote, to vote--and not to vote for hatred. Eventually the voices of xenophobia will sink and die in the quagmire population change that guarantees nativism is a dead ideology and political tactic in the long run.

Population Up 25 Million or So
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: December 6, 2010

The government estimated Monday that the country’s population grew to somewhere between roughly 306 million and 313 million over the last decade, acknowledging uncertainty due to rapid shifts in immigration. In 2000, the official census count was 281.4 million. Hispanics accounted for all the growth in the youth population in the last decade. In 2000, Hispanics made up 17 percent of the population under age 20. They now represent 22 percent to 25 percent of that age group. Without Hispanics, the number of young people in the United States would have declined between 2000 and 2010. Based on the estimates, the non-Hispanic youth population declined between 1.25 million and 2.9 million.

You are right, I am actually all down with this plan. If it passes or it does not pass, we should make it a priority not just to let our family members and anyone we know is sympathetic to the DREAM Act to vote for someone else, but we have been following the senate very closely, we have been seeing who stands for america and who stands for the riches 0.1% of americans (and not all of them either just the greedy ones).

I say regardless of what happens we should ensure that the culprits of passing bills that could have a real potential of hurting the economy of this country is refreshed when the presidential election circuit and elections in general start gaining momentum in 2011.

They are gambling with this country and their battle is a losing one, but I think their real intentions is to bet on the american public that is not following news now and will only consider the current events when they make their decisions.

What they will see are unemployment benefits expiring when the presidential election gains momentum and major deficits created by the tax cuts on the super rich.

We should not only ensure our friends are better informed before going making their choice for representation but the public in general.
