"Closing the book on the epic of America." That’s how an editorial in the Korea Daily describes the potential quashing of the DREAM Act (Development Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act) when it goes up for a vote next week in the Republican-controlled Senate.

The bill, which passed the Democrat-controlled House last week and enjoys the support of President Obama, would give undocumented students a path to citizenship provided they are working toward a college degree or serving in the armed forces. Republicans are widely expected to reject the bill.

The late writer and historian James Truslow Adams first coined the term "epic of America" to describe a nation where “life is better and fuller for everyone,” and where opportunity abounds for everyone.

Urging the Senate to pass the bill, the Korea Daily editorial says doing so would ensure that we “live up to the very values” on which the United States was founded.

“Targeting undocumented youth,” the Korea Daily editorial states, “is flatly un-American and violates the principles of this country.”

It's great that the DREAM is getting more attention from different media outlets. We have to show people that it's not just Hispanics that are affected by the bill, but that there are many races and classes who fall under the DREAM Act.

Yeah, the Democrats will have control of the Senate for at least 2 more years.

Well, there will be 51 Democrats. But they practically lost control, because it will be even harder to break Republican filibusters (needing 60 votes).

But, the House has been invaded by Republican - 240 of them.

Wrong, that was an article published in the US, by the Korea Daily. Koreans in Korea doesn't give two shits about the Dream Act.

I really have no idea what you're talking about. This is a US paper.
