My (yet to be) employer is willing to hire me as an independent contractor

using my ITIN. However, he has never done that before, so can you please

give a little information on how that would work? I have seen people on this

site suggest to get their employer hire them as independent contractors.

Thanks if you can help. I need to know as soon as possible.

Just tell him that all he needs to do is give you a 1099 form along with the regular w2 form and your set. Well that's how it works in California.

Simple, he writes you a check or pays you in cash, just like he would to any other vendor or outside contractor.

Annually, if the amount is more than $600 (which I'm sure it is), he has to file a 1099 at the end of the year for tax reasons when he does the business taxes. You file your own taxes with that 1099 copy he gives.

Not really anything he has to do on his part, until tax season comes.
