Newt Gingrich told a Univision interviewer that he believes a "citizen board" could be a better way to deal with the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States.

In the interview, which airs Sunday morning, Gingrich explained that during World War II, selective service boards were established so that "every local community could apply common sense to the draft process."

"We may want to think about a citizen board that can actually look at things and decide, is this a person that came in two months ago and doesn't nearly have any ties here? Or is this a person who clearly is integrated into the society but unfortunately has been undocumented, therefore, we have to rethink how we are approaching them," he said.

Gingrich said he is opposed to creating a pathway to citizenship for people who entered the country illegally, but at the same time he said he doesn't believe in mass deportation.

"Somebody who's been here 20 years and is married and has three kids and has been paying taxes and lived a totally peaceful life" but is an undocumented alien might deserve a second chance, he said.

"We got to find the way to routinize and get them in the law without necessarily getting them on a path to citizenship. Now there ought to be a way to do that."

Man... Are they high when they make comments like these? lol Aside from that i though we had leaders to make the appropriate decisions that will benefit this country in the long run? I guess we no longer have leaders, we should distribute their salaries among the people then.

This guy must smoke really good weed. I am sorry, what he wants is to keep the benefit of cheap labor that fuels the economy, while making sure that none of these hypothetical second class members of society ever vote democrat.I really do not want to care anymore. I do not even know if being part of this society is even worth it.

With that idea, Gingrich just kissed the immigrant-sympahetic Latino voters good bye. That has to be one of the stupidest ideas ever; the judgements are going to be so "biased".

Somebody please delete this article. I am so disturbed by it that it makes me want to take my computer monitor and wipe my a**.

I am as disturbed as you are. You made me laugh though. My computer is hooked up to my 50 in. TV. I want to do the same but do not know how.

Well, I hate to break the news to you. But, your 50 in. is going to have go down in flames too. J/K

With Trump (?) and Gingrich, Obama has a higher chance of being re-elected.

Ron Paul is an idiot.

If Republicans want a good chance of competing with Obama, I've got a name for them: Jeb Bush.
