Volunteer Coach

Just wanted to take a moment to share that, during the meeting with the rest of the volunteer coaches today, while their California Driver's licenses were photocopied and handed back, I couldn't help but feel demoralized. I found an excuse in which I rushed out of the house without bringing identification. They still gave me my shirt with the word "coach" on it. Feels pretty bad azz.
It'd burn if I couldn't even have the opportunity to guide these 12-13 year old kids, and make a difference in their lives, due to status... But I got a feeling everything's going to work out alright, cause you always gotta stay positive.

Aww...that's absolutely wonderful to hear. You keep up the good work with these kids. I'm sure they appreciate the time and effort you put into coaching them. Our undocumented status says nothing about our potential and the difference we can make in our community. Good to hear everything worked out well for you.

Is there a particular sport you coach?

It was basketball I was trying to coach, but I was denied on Monday for being unable to provide a driver's license number... Thank you anyway.
