They want to keep us right where we are so that we're forced to work in the most horrible work environment that no USC wants to go into. I mean, who's going to work in chicken poultry if we all want office jobs?

haha. Definitely, there are so many explanations. It's all very convoluted.

This is precisely the reason why they don't want to pass COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM...these senators know how much their states depend on these undocumented laborers...DA has a chance of passing but CIR hell no not in the next 20 years or so..

agree, too many brown ppl, the cheap labor was probably true until they found the miracles of outsourcing, now they can simply ship the jobs outside of US law instead of having to duck it

depends on who you define as "they". There is one fraction of the GOP, they want to retain the pool of cheap labor for their beloved corporations. And the remainder of the GOP doesn't want anything passed because of sheer racism. They are afraid that their mighty white race is becoming a minority. And for the Democrats, we are nothing but pawns in their political game.

Five reasons why DA hasn't passed...
Tester, Pryor, Hagan, Nelson, Baucus..we are rotting because of the personal grudge that these 5 individuals hold against immigrants...we are sacrificing in order to ensure these 5 win future elections.

They're not going to pass the DA because it's not practical for them to do so. Let's say 2 million dreamers are legalized, but only a small fraction can find a job. It means that we'd qualify for all the benefits that are allotted to citizens (unemployment benefits, food stamps, what have you). These senators aren't going to legalize us because we'd qualify for scarce resources.

There's also that argument about us "taking American jobs" from legal Americans. That's exactly what's gonna happen when DA is passed. We'd be taking their jobs, ergo, forcing them to work a lot harder than they would've if we stayed illegal.

So the DA will never pass. If they really wanted it to pass, it would've been done already.
