So I've done some research and I might be eligible for the TPS program. However, the initial registration period for my country has passed. Can I file a late application now or do I have to wait for the re-registration period to open up? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You can still apply for TPS for the first time during an extension of your country’s TPS designation period, even if the initial registration period has closed

Look at the current expiration date for your country. At that time, if DHS extends TPS for your country, you can apply for the first time. Most of the countries have had there TPS extended indefinitely.

Im from El salvador and i moved here a year after the Hearthquake happened so some how we missed the date that would have made us Eligible for it , we are hoping that due to the recent tropical storm they re issue a new one. From what i read in the news papers from over there someone is coming to ask for a new tps some time soon just as Guatemala did.

I am not sure if this helps, but you should talk to an attorney and see if you still qualify for TPS.

According to this site immigration-law.com, there has been an extension of TPS Designation. check it out...and like i said you should go see an attorney to know you options.

11/22/2011: Extension of TPS Designation & Automatic EAD Extension for Qualified El Salvadore Nationals Clear White House

"The three central American country nationals of Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvadore have gone through the cycles of extension of TPS designation and automatic EAD extension for those in the U.S. who are qualified for the TPS extension for a number of years. Extension for Honduras and Nicaragua has already been in place, but the same for El Salvadore has taken a long time to obtain clearance from the OMB of White House. Fianally OMB cleared it yesterday. Accordingly, the USCIS is likely to announce and publish it in the federal register soon. Please stay tuned. "
