Is there any possibility that one's individual case status isn't updated online? Like for instance, someone receives their approval yet it still says initial review on the USCIS website??

None that I heard of. They are always updated online. Trust me, it seems like eternity when its stuck on initial review, but you'll get approved don't worry so much. Post your timeline.

It is definitely possible, just we didn't have anyone on the forum who got their permit and I-797's without the case status updating online.

I have another question. I took my biometrics on October 30th, does that really qualify as if I took it in October or would it be November? Its really only a days difference, I was just curious

Well it's still October, still USCIS approves them in a somewhat messy manner, so it's not like "okay today we approve all people who took their bios on Oct 4th, tomorrow we do the 5th, etc), still you shouldn't expect your permit before new year, hell we got some people who send their apps in the first week who are still waiting for whatever reasons.
