How long does it usually take for a work permit to get fully processed? Do you get some sort of document while in the process? Let's say we apply but then the process takes months and Romney takes office. ICE has all our info and we're fkd.

How long does it usually take for this? Any idea?

Im guessing 2 to 3 months after you apply. So hopefuly by the end of october or 2nd week of November we will have our work permit. We have to do alot of shit aside from applying. We need to go through background checks and all that stuff.

Everybody who applies is rolling the dice, but that's life. Opportunities don't come along very often.

Exactly! What is it with all these paranoia-inducing threads, would you rather not have a chance to legally apply for a work permit and get some form of identification? We've all been asking for Relief for years and now that it's been granted and is so close people are coming up with paranoid speculations rather than saying 'thank you.' If you are so afraid then do not apply, no one is forcing anyone to do anything, but please stop the ridiculous speculations.

I think it's usually a 90 day process to get a work permit but since there will be a pretty big influx it may be a bit more.

As for Romney, I wouldn't worry too much. His own party don't really like him, they just happen to hate Obama enough to vote

From what I know, you would already have a "pending" status while you're application is being processed, so you woudn't be subject to deportation (unless you commit a crime and they charge you) while you're waiting. I wouldn't worry about Romney. Even if he wins, there is no guarantee he will reverse what Obama had done. And even if he does, it wouldn't be done before we get our permits. The worse that could happen is we just won't be able to renew anymore. Then it's end of the line for all of us.

I think the risk of not applying is higher than the risk of applying. Everybody should just chill.
