Buddy of mine's flying cross country and will be connecting in a city that I'm certain has BP checking. Now if I remember correctly, as long as you stay in the secure waiting areas by the gates, you don't have to worry about going thru TSA or BP again. Am I right in this assumption?

Once you're in, you're in. Unless BP is roaming the secure area, it's incredibly unlikely he or she'd have to go through them.

Yeah I get that'd be the case with the 1st flight...I'm just wondering if when connecting, you have to go thru TSA or BP again. I'm thinking no but its been a while since I flew anything but direct

Where is the connecting flight? That would be more helpful.

And no.... when you clear the gate the first time, you are good to go, no more checks.
