So this morning my dad was detained by ICE in Texas. Long story short, someone called ICE on him to get him deported. Thing is, they were accusing him of "physical assault by contact" and we went to court and all and the judge said that it was just a minor thing so they gave him 90 days in probation and we paid fees. Anyways, He is now in an immigration center taking biometrics. We have had an i-485 petition filed for around 10 years, but you know how long those take.

I'd like to request some advice as to what the process will be like etc... I know there's info out there, but I'm looking for some professional support from Dreamers.

Sorry Erik. But stay strong. If you haven't, contact Dream Activist asap. They will figure out a way.

I'd also like to add that my uncle was also detained a couple years ago in Texas. He had a petition in also, and when he got released, he was given residency. I hope the same happens for your dad.

I was always under the impression Dream Activist only fought for Dreamers....

To the OP,If you get in contact with him ensure to mention that he doesn't sign anything[voluntary departure].Get an immigration attorney asap, even pro-bono if you can't afford one.

Note:An I-485 does not take 10 years at all and should never take that long for adjustment.I'm assuming you mean the underlying petition such as an I-130 for family or I-140 for work sponsorship. If he has an immediate visa number available or with the next 6 months it is very possible he could be released dependent on if the charge he faced did not incur Moral Turpitude.

Dream Activist fights for a lot immigrants detained. Dreamer or not. I get their mail all the time. They are the Dream organization that handles a lot of direct action.
