I always seem to find veterans working at average paying jobs like the Quiktrip across my street there's a Air Force veteran working as a cashier, also another Air Force Veteran working at autozone. Some even working or bearly working as mechanics and doing side jobs to try to pay their bills ! Arent they supposed to be treated better and land a better job than us civilians ? That is kind of messed up isnt it ? What you guys think ?

Yes it is messed up and they should be treated better.

I doubt all of them work those type of jobs tho. Maybe they just didn't feel like doing anything else.

Most training that you get in the armed forces doesn't translate very well to any actual civilian jobs at all. The highly technical jobs like technician, network admin, translator, etc, will get you a decent job in the private sector, but for every 1 of those jobs in the military there are 10 jobs that are basically stand around, drive a car, shoot a gun, fill out some forms, etc.

True, I live close to a base in KS, and see this all the time, joining the army kinda narrow their options at careers after the military, which is why I appreciate them since they gave up a lot just to defend their country.

They can go to college with everything paid by the government after they're served in the military. It's maybe because the ones that you see as cashiers, etc don't want to go to college (even though it's basically free for them) and get a better job.

I think it also has to do with what they went through. I've heard that many homeless people are veterans which is sad because they risked their life to fight for this country and should really be given the help they deserve.
