Is G-1145 the same as signing up for a case status account?

When I sent my application in I sent it in with the form G-1145 (put my E-mail and phone number in) but it also appears that you could have a case account on the USCIS site? Are they the same thing or is the one on the site more detailed?

Should I sign up for the case status on the site or no? I already sent my G-1145 in :O

No, it's not the same. G-1145 is only for the initial acceptance of your packet.

You still have to sign up for a "case status" account.
