I had a few questions and I was wondering if someone here might be able to help.

My wife is 31 years old. She was brought here illegally as a child when she was 7. She went through serious physical, emotional and sexual abuse, but despite her circumstances was able to complete her G.E.D. about 10 years ago.

Like most of the people here, we've waited and waited for CIR to be passed, and at one point we were hopeful to at least see the DREAM Act passed because at the time, she was under the age requirement which I believe was 30.

With all of the talk now about CIR being passed and with the DREAM Act being a key component, I'm wondering if they've released any information on what the age requirements are.

Will she qualify? Should I hire an attorney or is this something that we should be able to do on our own?

Of course all of this is based on whether or not it actually makes it through congress. I realize we're not quite there yet, but I'd like to know what we have to look forward to if it does pass.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you talked to an immigration lawyer for asylum/uvisa for her cause of her abuse?

Should know some more details about CIR/Dream this week.

I don't think a lawyer should be hired for CIR that has to pass the Congress.

However,I DO think you and your wife should hire a competent attorney as she maybe eligible for a U visa if the sexual abuse you mentioned happened on US soil!

Even if the bill that passes (if it passes) keeps the same age limit as DACA, your wife would probably qualify as just a regular, entered as an adult, undocumented person.

Are you a US citizen? If you are and since she's your wife, there is that new I-601a provisional waiver that might help her adjust status through you.

And as Ianus suggested I would look into the U-visa as well if the abuse happened in the US.
