Has anyone ever contemplated deleting all their forms of social media in an effort to see how that affects their own social world?

I recently got rid of my facebook, instagram, and I changed my phone number.
I still log into forums such as this one, but this is more anonymous so i'm not including it in the umbrella. I pretty much just use my phone to communicate to people close to me like family and 1 friend.

Pretty good actually. I got rid of some "friends" and I've had more time to work on things I should have done before.
Like the last few days I've rotated the tires on my car, helped my brother take his car to get aligned. I inflated all the tires, cleaned my car out, went out for a jog.

It's pretty much just been car stuff but Its time that has been better spent than engaging in gossip.

I feel that I have more things to learn from people when its not already plastered on facebook or somewhere else, and honestly some people are great, but not when you know their pseudo-personality on social media websites.

I think it brings back the intimacy of conversation and getting to know someone.

Agreed. But im trying to get on with life, and I was better off not having some of these people in my life in the first place.

Yeah,,, yes i was. Haha facebook was my retreat when boredom struck.. which was very very often.
First I deleted everyone off facebook whose number i didnt have or hadnt seen in the past month. Then i deactivated it... and i got rid of instagram too.
I might create one in the distant future, but im kinda happy right now not dealing with all those acquaintances from high school and other places.

haha my retreat is stumbleupon... so much better than facebook.. i contemplated deleting my facebook but i couldnt lol... i like to see how ppl are doing even if i dont talk to them.. like cousins of mine that would be kinda awkward to have a chat or text them.. so i just see how they are through fb..lol.

Doing friend clean-up on facebook is marvelous. Now I only have friends that matter on it and it's so much better

I couldn't agree more. I don't have facebook or any other social media either, and honestly, I don't miss it one bit.
