My mom doesn't have an SSN and my dads SSN is not valid, but he still uses it for work.

It seems like I should leave 9B blank. Will it cause any problems if I put my dads SSN in 10B? It says you must show your parents SSN if you are under 18, but can leave it blank if they don't have one. It doesn't say that you have to fill it out if you are over 18.

Long story short, am I putting my dad at risk by putting his SSN on the form?

I didn't know you had to fill out a form to get a SSN. When I went to the SSA, they sorta did a small interview and just read it off the documents i presented to them. I really doubt you are putting your dad at any risk, but I would just leave it blank to be safe.

Some SSAs don't have applications. The worker just inputs the information from the EAD and Birth Certificate/Passport into the computer and they don't ask any questions regarding your parents.

So if you are over 18 you don't have to put your parents information?
