This is the sort of thing that can kill immigration reform. 22 year old drunk driver who is not a citizen but has a Hispanic name. I hope this guy doesn't have DACA but it doesn't matter. Every TV station has his face on TV and every single one is mentioning he's not a citizen. For you guys who are just getting your driver's licenses, please please don't do anything stupid. It affects the victim and all of the rest of us too.

*edit*, it turns out he's here illegally and ICE had a hold on him. Great.

http://www.chron.com/news/houston-te...p?cmpid=hpfsln

A 16-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff's Office was killed by an alleged drunken driver who ran a red light early Sunday.

.....

Andres Munos-Munos, 22, sped through the red light at the intersection in his white GMC pickup, crashing into the driver's side door of Polk's truck, said Houston Police Department spokesman John Cannon.

....

Munos, who lives in Houston but is not a U.S. citizen, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter, according to Harris County court records. A spokesman for the Houston office of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement could not be reached to clarify the man's legal status.

Records also show Munos accepted a plea bargain agreement for two charges stemming from a June 2012 arrest. He served 30 days in county jail after pleading guilty to driving while under the influence and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Doubt it will have any effect. Drunk drivers always kill people. The whole non citizen is just a spin that the media always does.

Facts don't play much of a part when people who hate us try to make arguments against reform.

You are being over dramatic. It would take something like 9/11 to derail the immigration reform.

This won't have a negative impact, the guy was drinking and driving, it's not like if he was a citizen that he wouldn't of been drinking and driving lol he's just another statistic, only terrorist events could derail CIR

Plus the gang of 8 could probably argue that if CIR passes, folks like him would be removed because he could potentially have a criminal record

Not really. Once a few of these cases are out there, it gives ammo to the opposition. If Bill White was the governor instead of Perry, the Driver's License rules wouldn't have changed and many people would have been able to renew. Instead, ads like this filled the airwaves here. Perry won, held special session, changed the DPS rules to check for immigration status.

But white never had a chance against Perry, DPS guidelines took effect in 2008 to comply with real ID law, so White wouldve not been of much help.

the reform bill already is not allowing drunk drivers to apply , and this is a perfect example as to why
