I have been driving since 2005 with my Michigan's driver's license when back then they dont require SSN, unfortunately it only lasted for 2 years, cuz it expired on my 21st bday on 2007... SSN already required lol. In order to obtain my Michigan's driver's license I showed my country's license as one of the ID. Passed the written test and road test (still had to do it). Even tho my Michigan's license expired, i kept driving cuz i had college classes and a job. I have been using an "international driver's license" since now. In case other people doesnt know, an "international DL" has to be with a valid foreign license; Which i have.

Yes i have been pulled over twice... one for going 42 on a 25mph... and a "county trap" for texting while driving... speeding they let me go for a warning (cop doesnt know wth to do wit my license lol)... for texting while driving, had to pay the fee online, thats it.

Now my question is....

I know alot of people around here in JERSEY (including my cousins and uncle) that skipped the 2-3months waiting time for the road test just for showing their valid foreign driver's license; which i exactly have. But none of them that i know is under DACA...

i already waited 8 months to get approved.... now i have to wait 2-3months to get my license.. ugh JERSEY. lol...

Since my EAD is on its way... I was wondering if i can use this "trick" to skip the 2-3months waiting time.

Do we have a special SSN card that says we're under DACA or somthing..? Will the DMV know?

Has anyone done this? doesnt have to be in jersey.... any other states.....

I'm trying to understand your question. You are trying to skip the 2-3month wait for driving test by showing a foreign dl?

If you have the documents ready, I don't see why not. The Social Security card reads "Valid Only With DHS Authorization"

yes I'm trying to avoid the usual jersey 2-3 months road test wait time for "first time driver" after the written test. Like i said, i have already waited 8 months to get approved.. most likely 1 more month till i get my EAD and SSN. If you have a valid foreign license, it already proved that you already know how to drive, so therefore, a road test is uncessesary. All you have to do is take the written test.

It has been proven that this is doable (my cousins and uncle did it), but none of them I know are DACA benefeciary.

but if our SS is same as regular immigrant SS... i guess thats really doable then.

ive been here since 1999.. so i guess im just scared if they asked me how i got my country's valid license (if theyll ever ask).

and i guess im tryin to confirm if any DREAMERS have done this also.....

"tricks"..... more of a taking advantage of system loopholes..... as a working student DREAMER or just a DREAMER in general... we live off of those loopholes.

Its not a loophole, its straightforward "If you have a foreign license, then you don't have to take the Driving Test"

And just by you exercising this, doesn't mean you are taking advantage of a loophole.

id love to explain the "loophole" part of this situation, but its off-topic, and for security reasons. lol.

anyway.....

but in general, most of us (DREAMERs), do take advatage of some of the loopholes to get by....

for example: before DACA... people would fly/drive to other states to get a STATE ID or a valid DL such as: Washington.

anywayz... back to topic... my EAD is suppose to come in this wednesday... then go straight to SS office... then once i get my SS i'm gon try this.
