Did anyone see the CNN piece the last nite on the immigrant who was caught travelling back to his country with 60,000 in cash all of which were a result of 11 years savings. Well the government originally thought he was a drug dealer, but later (after actually taking the time to dig deeper) tehy found out he was a dish washer who had saved his money for 11 yrs. They still have his money and he is still here working at the same job.

I think the government is willing to give back a portion, but not all.

My question is: What does the government want with this mans savings why don't they go after corporate profits and CEO salaries? Maybe the 60,000 will pay for an extra second in Iraq.

I think it's messed up that they seem to just be waiting out the clock for him on his deportation. However, he shouldn't get to keep it all considering that he never filed taxes during that time. He should be taxed and then fined for tax evasion, and then let him have the rest.

I read that on CNN. At first I thought that the government should give him all his money back. But then later on in the story it said that the man had not paid taxes for 11 years (and he admitted it too), after reading that I wasn't so sure. He should get back whatever money is left after the IRS takes their share. He should have taken that deal that the govt offered him of $19k. now he might be stuck with nothing.

I agree that he should definitely pay the taxes, but it seems to me that the government is spending too much resources on this man, when there are bigger fish to fry.
