I am from NY and I received my DACA approval in Oct 2012 and got my NYS drivers license around the same time. I will be moving to Florida in October of this year and will eventually need to get a florida drivers license. I did a search on the requirements to get a florida drivers license and also went to their dmv website. I read up that floridas Governor Scott changed the requirements to get a license and that DACA approved recipients cannot get a license. Some members on here said you can still get a license as long as you have a work permit. Can someone clarify if we can get florida licenses with DACA/EAD? If not, i will just keep my NY license.

I'm in Florida, so long as you bring your EAD, SSN (Card), and 2 Proofs of Residence, you'll be fine.

Like the person above said, bring those documents and you will get a license for one year or your expiration date whichever comes first. Renewal cost is like $50- bring cash.

Scott vetoed a bill which would explicitly allow DACA beneficiaries to obtain FL driver licenses (ex. using the DACA approval notice). Since there is no actual law against us getting licenses there we are still able to do so as EAD holders.

Just people switched the story around and suddenly a veto of a pro- bill got shifted into a signing of an anti- bill.

So yes, you can obtain a FL driver's license - note however that it's only valid for a period of 1 year (or when your EAD expires, whichever is sooner), however you can renew, as long as your EAD is valid.
