I'm one of the unfortunate few with a really long surname, but only ever used a first and last name in the US. When I applied for DACA, I wrote down my name as I always used it here, but somehow they chose the name that was visible on my foreign passport.

Since the renew process doesn't require me to send my passport, would it make a difference if I submitted it only using two names, or should I just keep the long name they decided to go with?

You should have put your names like this [if your name is John George Smith Westinghouse but you go by John Smith, you should have written John Smith as first and last name and then Westinghouse as other (last) names used] that's the only way that they know you from immigration records if you came into the US under that name while also signaling to them that you want to be referred to under the shortened name.

You should submit your renewal docs under the names you put initially.

You can go with the name that you prefer to use, but they may just go with the passport name since that is considered the government name.

I think for the sake of not doing anything that could mess up your app., id just leave it alone.
