Okay so I am trying to enroll into broward college . I know they offer in state tuition to undocumented because of the law passed in Florida , however my daca work permit expires in December and the classes start in January. I keep getting told that I cannot enroll until my permit is renewed however I really cannot wait because I know the courses I need will be booked which is why I want to apply early .

My friend who doesn't even have a work permit qualified for in state so I don't know what that even has to do with it. I've called and been to two different campuses and they keep giving me the same response which I know is not true , in fact the law passed isn't only for people who have daca work permits .

Anyone got any idea on what I can do ?

I went to Broward and just put my tax ID as a social. However, I did attend high school in florida also. I would say just put your social down and enroll. If you need to see an advisor, I would say Henry at south campus. He is very nice and goes out of his way to enroll you.

First post!

I tried posting a huge long detail about stuff about BC but some how it didn't go through. I'll just break it down to a list to help you out.

1) Go through there normal online application, fill out most of what you can.
2) Get your high school transcripts and proof of residency.
3) Next go to whichever campus you're close to, I went to central.
4) Go to there registration room, and then they will take your phone number and give a ETA on where you can go up to talk to someone
5) When your called up say you want to finish registering for Broward College, give your transcripts, proof of residency. Tell them what you want to major or finish at BC. Im getting an AA (Associated Arts) and then transferring out to somewhere like FIU or UCF for a BA in Computer Science.
6) Then they will ask for a social number, might ask this when you're doing registration. Next you will say whatever. I dont have a work permit so I offered my tax ID number and they said its fine. Ask them about getting in state tuition, they will label you as out of state fees but once you pay for the classes it will amount to instate without FASFA. There is a law saying if you've been in the education system long enough like high school you can receive instate tuition.
7) After that youre done! They will give you an orientation date and you will register for classes then.

After you're done with orientation and finish choosing which classes the next thing to do is pay. I originally choose four classes or 12 credit hours and it ended I think being 1300 which isnt so bad. Like most of my friends who are citizens they normally pay between 300-800 depending on there financial background.

I ended up dropping two classes because they were at central and the other two where online. I had a 4 hour bus ride 3 days a week. Left my house around 10:30ish for the bus and would get home around 8. It was too much for me so I dropped them and now when I go to register for more classes in January I still have that money in the system, I could request a check but I choose not to.

Just do what I said, and ask loads of questions at the campus itself. They are super welcoming and helpful. I got my biometrics September 26th and hopefully I get approve soon end of this month of November so I can drive to central! I already got a car months ago thats basically been collecting dust so im stoked to actually finally drive her

If you have any other questions dont be afraid to ask!a
