Has anyone ever gotten the following:

We have placed your case on a processing hold because the required security checks remain pending. Until we receive the results of these security checks, we cannot move forward on your case. We require the results of security checks before we make a decision on any pending case.

We cannot predict when we will receive the results of these security checks. Please be assured that we will make every effort to make a decision in your case as soon as the security checks are complete.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

My renewal has been pending since 12.11.16 at CSC.

I did an online service request. I'm thinking is something generic though. I highly doubt my bios result have taken this long. Highly doubt it.

What they told you basically was that they're waiting for the results of the background check on you before they can decide on your case. Oftentimes, the FBI takes awhile to come back with requests from USCIS. This isn't necessarily because they found criminal records, only that they're slow at coming back.

Now, if you have a common name, say Jane Doe, there might be a list that is long of people who share the same name as you that have criminal records. Subsequently, once the FBI does a name check and it finds a whole list of people then they have to proceed with running your biometrics. They have to get USCIS to release your photo along with your fingerprints to see if they match anyone they have on record. Obviously, you won't have a record so nothing will show up.

It's just a whole thing they have to do to make sure you are you.
