I had no idea that a situation like this would make me so sad. I'm not giving up don't get my wrong, It's just so hard not to get sad when you look at all those people who work; and can help support their families. I admire one of my friends he's illegal and he works as a vet. assistant and makes good money, the only bad thing about that is that he's risking it every time he leaves for work. I'm way to scared to break the law, I'm just one of those people that if it's directions to laws I follow them word by word. I have my own family, and my poor husband works so hard and all I do is sit at home and do nothing. I'm waiting for school to start, and my volunteer position to open. I would do anything to be able to work as an EMT I earned it, I worked so hard to pass that class with a perfect 96 %. So many clinical hours and ride alongs, medical termanology, late nights, and a scary test. I would love to help those in need, but I can't because I broke the law when I was 6. The only law I've ever "broken" and I didn't even know I was breaking it. I pray that things change and that one day I can wake up and wear that uniform with the star of life and have my badge that says "Emergency Medical Tech". I get all teary when I think of wearing my black Bates boots again. I really needed to get that off my chest, I know I'm not alone because we all want to succeed something that this country is missing out on.

take heart, you have the whole DAP giving you emotional support! i know the whole situation is heartbreaking and the political climate with regards to stories like yours disgusting, but look at it this way: no matter which party wins the presidential election, we are likely to have some sort of legalization within the next couple of years. if you can stick it out for that long, which you can (afterall, you said you're not giving up!) then you'll most likely be rewarded.

After a while, I know we all get past the point where "Don't worry, everything will be ok" just doesn't cut it anymore, and that's totally understandable. You just have to remind yourself that you're doing the best you can in the circumstances you find yourself in, and that's what matters the most. Don't beat yourself up, b/c it's not your fault that the opportunity to be better was taken away from you. All you can do now is keep on truckin' really. It sounds really cheesy, and stupid, but there are no good alternatives. In the meantime, remember that we're all going through the same thing.
