President Trump will soon sign an order to deploy National Guard troops to the United States' southern border, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen announced Wednesday.

Speaking at the White House, Nielsen framed the move as a way to toughen an immigration system that “rewards bad behavior,” including illegal drug smuggling and border crossings.

“Border security is homeland security, which is national security,” Nielsen told reporters. “It’s not a partisan issue.”

As I said before, next step should be granting us protection indefinitely. That would be a big win for the administration. Killing four birds with a one stone.

Protecting the border - checked
Base happy - checked
Rubbing it on Dems face - checked
Taking care of us because he loves us - checked

Couldn't be easier than that. Win win situation for everyone. !

President Miller will never agree to that.

Both Bush and Obama deployed the National Guard to the border on more than one ocassion. Why is it shocking that Trump does it too?

Agreed. They've done it before. People easily forgets which is why Spanky is still in office.

To be fair, Trump did make it sound as if he was going to use Active Military Troops rather than the National Guard.

Quote:
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is ordering U.S. troops to the southern U.S. border, but the move does not appear to be as unusual as the White House first billed it this week.

The Pentagon and White House on Wednesday walked back President Donald Trump promise to handle border security “militarily,” saying the proposed moves will restricted to National Guard personnel and be similar to past operations in southern states.

It really is insane fox news is running this country. Trumps temper tantrums and rants have been normalized by his supporters and even others.
