Documents for i765 renewal

Hi folks. On page 20 of i765 instructions it says a copy of your passport or i-94 document is required. Am I reading this wrong? In the past I only entered my passport number in the 821d form but do I now have to submit a paper copy of my passport as well?

I looked at my last application and I never gave my passport number or expiration and I didn’t have any problems with my renewal.

This is a new requirement with the new I-765 form.

On the other hand, the instructions do say this:

3. You must submit the following documents.

A. A copy of at least one of the following documents: Form I-94, Arrival-Departure Record (front and back), a printout of your electronic Form I-94 from www.cbp.gov/i94, passport, or other travel document. If you are fling Form I-765 under the (c)(9) category, copies of any of the above are not required.

B. A copy of your last EAD (front and back). If you were not previously issued an EAD, you must submit a copy of a government-issued identity document (such as a passport) showing your picture, name, and date of birth; a birth certifcate with photo ID; a visa issued by a foreign consulate; or a national ID document with photo and/or fngerprint. The identity document photocopy must clearly show your facial features and contain your biographical information.

NOTE: If you are fling under the (c)(33) category, you are not required to submit additional documentation beyond what you submit with Form I-821D under 2. What documents do you need to provide to prove identity in the Evidence for Initial Requests Only section of the Form I-821D Instructions.

The note is under (3)(B) and not under (3) so it's not 100% clear if you don't need to submit (B) documents or (A) + (B) documents.

That's why i opened this thread, i'm confused if we need to send physical copy of passport or not? Very confusing instructions. I don't recall this 2 years ago when i submitted my renewal.

I submitted the following:

* Copy of my I-94
* Copy of my entry visa (from original passport) showing the passport number
* Copy of the main passport page form my new (unused passport)
* Copy of latest EAD

with an explanation of what's what.

I mean - I have no idea what more USCIS can possibly want, but that's all I've got

i just downloaded this form and it says it expires 5/2020
i can find page 20?? wth

even 1821d has 7 pages and same with 1765 and the 1765ws has one page

so where is page 20? im confused does someone have the current links new updated link? i just literally went to the website is USCIS and downloaded them
