Wow. that's all I can say from reading the stories just for the new members. I say wow because I'm truly amazed at how many of you have been in the same situation as me. I almost get tears in my eyes lol

A little about myself...

I was born in Peru in 87 and came to the US legally in 95ish with my mom...Legal in the meaning that we came as tourists and have overstayed our welcome for about 13 years haha...I never knew the repercussions of not having a SSN until my 10th year in high school and even then i didn't pay attention to that fact until i got my first car. I couldn't get a license but insurance thru my Pops...he had/has an expired license from NC from a loong time ago hence...Then when it was time to get money in my pocket...and find out I can't get a job normally...
But I think the worst experience I ever had was when I went to the local college in my area to register for classes. I go in the financial aid office, fill out some paperwork ( leaving the space for your SSN blank) and turned it in to the lady behind a desk. She glanced over it noticed the empty blank and in a room full of people ask me If i had a SSN.I told her no and she tells me to go get one of those random numbers for people in my situation. We're in a classroom sized room and this lady is yelling like we're in a fucking auditorium...I had my older sister with me and I glanced at her like " this bitch is crazy" and for probably the first time i felt really humble...kinda like the cholos that would come into the restaurant i waited at asking for a job, didnt matter if it was scrubbing toilets theyd do it, and we'd tell them No and joke about them...I felt like i wasn't worthy. Ill be the first to tell you Im a prideful person, everything I got I worked for, but when i couldn't advance professionally because of this stupid number that HOLDS PEOPLE BACK from actually bettering their lives...rocked my world hard. yea i can't get financial aid or anything unless i had a damn 10.0gpa in high school or something along those lines, but the school don't complain none when i pay International student fees so i can get a degree. and to put it in numbers i pay 3x what an In-state student pays...

So apparently most people in this situation resort to extremes...paying somebody with legal status 5-8grand for their hand in marriage and 3 years of waiting time until you're cleared for citizenship...is Joining the armed forces a possibility anymore? or having a kid born here although i think that rule has changed somewhat.

Man, even getting a cell phone is hard since they do credit checks lol.

sorry if i was bitching but damn...this sucks big cojones.

Much respect to everyone and especially this site.

We're all going through the same stuff.
I feel your frustration.
Where do you live right now?

I know that Sprint/NEXTEL doesn't require credit cards to open an account.
I've had my cell phone account with them for years.

You might fall for a citizen and get married for real.
Or Obama will win the elections and make ways for us.

In any case, welcome and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions.

5 to 8 grand? way too cheap, it is usually 30k and up lol (from the rumors at least) If it is a fake marriage, you are not likely to get away with it, not anymore at least.

Armed force never was a possibility, lots of us would have done it long long time a go if we could. Having a kid here, u gotta wait till that kid turns 18...

like the post above, get married for real or obama!

I have nextel but I'm not too pleased with their service. I want that iPhone.

appreciate the gestures guys, i will be coming thru every now and then.

As far as 30k??

you must be messing with people that got a gameplan on your situation...

Really? They don't accept people without legal status? I thought they had some sort of act that allowed immigrants to gain status thru the armed forces??

oh and GO McCAIN

Ahh, the iPhone.
I understand your predicament, lol.

I have Sprint, and it's fine for me. Depends on where you live, I guess.
Anyway, look at it like this: the Razr and KRZR used to be reserved only for Verizon, and now it's usable with other providers.
So there may be hope for your iPhone yet.

Or get an iTouch for starters.
