For those who keep saying Biden’s hands are tied when it comes to DACA, it seems like he definitely has a lot of options for Ukrainians and Venezuelans….

Quote:
The Biden administration is considering new ways to deter Venezuelans from seeking asylum at U.S. ports of entry, debating whether to establish a humanitarian parole program that would allow U.S. citizens and residents to sponsor Venezuelans for refuge in the United States.

Over 6.8 million Venezuelans have fled their country since its leader, Nicolás Maduro, tightened his grip on power, precipitating an economic and political crisis. Almost 2 million Venezuelan refugees have found refuge in Colombia.

But recent months have seen a growing number of Venezuelans heading towards the United States, traveling hundreds of miles on foot through Central America. More than 150,000 have been encountered crossing the U.S. southern border in the past year alone.

No decisions have been made regarding the potential program, a U.S. official said. But it could be modeled after the United for Ukraine program, which requires Ukrainians seeking humanitarian asylum in the United States to be sponsored financially by a vetted U.S. citizen or lawful resident.

Ukrainians have endured hardships from the war. Give them a break... Oh, and most are caucasian so that plays a role too.

Looks like they are going through with it now:
Quote:
The Biden administration agreed to accept up to 24,000 Venezuelan migrants at U.S. airports, similar to how Ukrainians have been admitted since Russia’s invasion, while Mexico has agreed to take back Venezuelans who come to the U.S. illegally over land, the U.S. and Mexico said Wednesday.

Effective immediately, Venezuelans who walk or swim across the border will be immediately returned to Mexico under a pandemic rule known as Title 42 authority, which suspends rights to seek asylum under U.S. and international law on grounds of preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Quote:
Venezuelans who successfully apply online will come to the United States through an airport, similar to an effort that began in April to admit up to 100,000 Ukrainians fleeing war for stays of up two years. The U.S. has admitted tens of thousands of Ukrainians since then, including including nearly 17,000 in August.

Venezuelans, like Ukrainians, must have a financial sponsor in the United States.
Quote:
The 24,000 slots that the U.S. is offering is less than the number of Venezuelans that crossed the border illegally from Mexico in August alone.

It’s funny how easy it is for them to help out other groups of immigrants with their status but in our case, “their hands are tied”….

Yeah those nice blue eyed, blonde haired Ukrainians need all the legal breaks because their country has been at war for a few months. Hell, even the Russians who are getting out of fighting that war are asking for asylum in Alaska. This is a very unique situation so they deserve compassion.

Meanwhile, people whose skin color is a slightly different shade have been escaping war torn countries for decades and treated like absolute shit when they find a way to come here. When I was brought here in the 80's, my home country was in a long bloody war far worse than this one and there was zero empathy for anybody from that country and they would reject anybody who didn't already have an immigrant visa ready to get processed.

They consider us coming to the country the "wrong" way while the Ukrainians are "coming" here the right way even though we did not have a choice in coming. I think I am more against the added government spending for the War.. inflation is not helping my portfolio.

Yea my Robinhood portfolio is faltering along with my 401ks -- But as a former military reservist, I'd like to see those Russian bastards dead.

Just look at the war crimes those barbarians are currently committing.

I'm not against supporting Ukraine or their people, but there was definitely a double standard the way they were treated vs. Syrian refugees. Putin is a bastard...however, I didn't notice any Syrian flags flying in suburban backyards or city bridges with Syrian flag LED lights the way I did with Ukrainian flags.

Their excuse is that "well, Ukraine is a developed country so they share our values more and are more educated" Well shit, I guess I had no idea every Ukrainian was a god damned western scholar. No toilet scrubbers or degenerates there.

Hell, I even envy those South American migrants who got to fly to DC and see the world. I haven't left my city in 3 years and soon I can't fly either. It just gets tiring that everybody else jumps in front of us.
