Is Nancy Pelosi trying to improve her ratings with hate groups like FAIR and NumbersUSA?

Check out an excerpt from her interview on the Charles Rose Show just this past week (Oct 16):

NANCY PELOSI: Immigration, we have to have comprehensive immigration reform. We`ve always talked about our principles: secure our borders, enforce our laws, have — Family unification has been part of our immigration law. Have that as a principle. Try to have path to legalization. I still don`t know where Senator McCain is on it. He has been back and forth. He was the author of the legislation and then he opposed it and the rest. But perhaps what we have to do is reverse it and require that everyone in our country become legal. And then say to them, if you can`t meet the test, you have to go home. Or you have — you just have –

CHARLIE ROSE: Require them to go through the process of becoming legal.

NANCYPELOSI: I`m just saying becoming citizens. I`m just saying register so that we know who you are.

CHARLIE ROSE: If you`re not willing to register and be identified, then you`ve got to go back.

NANCY PELOSI: You got to go back. We have to do something.

What was that? Surely, Nancy Pelosi is in a position to realize that undocumented migrants are not undocumented out of choice–we CANNOT become legal no matter how much we want to. Hello? What part of legal immigration don’t you understand? Those of us brought here by our parents illegally CANNOT become legal without legislation such as the DREAM Act or Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

Additionally, requiring us to go home means a 10-year ban and separation from our families–what sort of family unification plan is that?

What democratic principles is Nancy Pelosi upholding by agreeing to politically disenfranchise 12 million immigrants forever?

This isn’t a one-time statement. She continues on this new mantra reported in the AP:

The estimated 12 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally “are part of the U.S. economy. We cannot send them all home, and we cannot send them all to jail, so we have to address it,” Pelosi said.

Any solution would have to be bipartisan, she said, so it may require sacrificing some of Democrats’ past priorities, such as giving illegal immigrants a path to citizenship.

“Maybe there never is a path to citizenship if you came here illegally,” Pelosi said.

“I would hope that there could be, but maybe there isn’t.”

Ms. Pelosi, a lot of Dreamers didn’t COME here illegally; they were BROUGHT here illegally.

Is this one of the ‘changes’ we are supposed to be expecting under the Obama Administration? I surely hope not.

Further research reveals that Nancy Pelosi is one of the Democrats to received a handsome donation just this past June from CCA–Corrections Corpoation of America, the company that hit the jacket by jailing immigrants for profit. Do you see the Iron Triangle?

Lets say Pelosi has not sold her conscience to the dev…Err, foes of immigration reform. Is Nancy Pelosi trying to pander to the almost non-existent conservative voters in her district given that the more liberal anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan threatens to end Pelosi’s reign in the House of Representatives? Doubtful.

Oh yea, the sanctuary is mad.
Expect more articles soon.

When was this plague sent and for what? I'll note that in the blogs.

She has always gotten on my nerves. Oh well, that's true for all politicians as a general rule.

What's the big deal here? I think it's just election talk anyway.

1. You realize what district she comes from, right? Have you visited here? This kind of re-election talk will do her more harm than good.

2. For the more part, Politicians don't go back on promises BEFORE elections.

3. Even if it is election talk, not addressing it and showing the sort of ignorant complacency that you are only sends the message that 'this is alright.'

4. This is actually in-line with the blue dog polls from the convention -- be worried.

While I do think it's election talk since the last McCain attacks are about warning against an Obama/Pelosi/Reid administration, I do have to say that I doubt any immigration reform will be anything that satisfies us.

That's why I am hoping we push for the DREAM Act early and then concentrate on this huge mess about CIR.

Yeah, I have a feeling that CIR would be so watered down.

Get this. We contacted Pelosi's office and they are running around trying to do a 'retraction' and 'clarify' saying that she 'mis-spoke.' Expecting some sort of answer from her.

The pro-migrant blogosphere has done a great job this year.

Oh another post from the Unapologetic Mexican and a great graphic. Nez is so talented.

This isn't too surprising considering the House has never brought up any comprehensive immigration bill.Past articles I have read suggested that the House is looking at a more toned down legalization component. It would consist of a 5-6 year visa only but I'm not sure if it would be renewable & you'd be able to travel.

I would be extremely skeptical on the travel part since the visa could likely be revoked on return to the US due to past unlawful presence. The mere fact is that unless Congress specifies that they will be forgiving "unlawful presence" along with the legalization component it would not be a good idea to even apply.A 245i component dealing with visas only should do it,since without it this would just be another departure program.

I just called the speaker's office, and her staffers said her position on immigration has always been the same.

This is nauseating. I can only hope Obama and enough Senators and Congressmen will never consider taking legalization off the table, as Pelosi seems to be doing. If I lived in her district, I would be voting for Cindy Sheehan. My congresswoman over here in L.A. supports DREAM, and has my vote for that and other reasons.
