Hi guys. . . .
well, let me tell my story first. .. . basically, like everybody else, my parents brought me here when i was 12 , and now im a senior in high school
im so stressed recently over the college applications. . . because every single one of these applications asks for my citizenship and status, which i lack. so i have no idea what i should do. . . i mean i can afford state Us (my parents and my siblings promises to support me , of course, i will have to work also), but without a legal status, it seems almost impossible for me to get into any college . . i have 4.0 gpa, 1900 sat but dont know where to go .. . .

arr. . . im so frustrated. . . not sure what should i do . . .
not that i dont have a good grade, not that i have committed any felony, not that i dont have the money to pay for out-of-state , but simply because illegal status, bars me from reaching my dreams. . . . . thats why i have been surfing the net try to find any news about dream act. . im glad that i found this place though, at least people in here might understand the situation im in.

i have a question though. . . for those brothers who are in college, what did u put for ur status? i cant leave it blank with online application thought. . . i thought about lying to them that im a citizen, but i worry if they will check your documents when u actually enroll. and the possibility that they deny my entrance , then i will just have no where to go

do y'all know any state Us that accepts or accepted undocumented students?
im think about applying Penn State, UFlorida, U North Carolina and SUNY Binghamton. . .

REally hope that Obama will get election as the president and the congress will pass the DREAM ACT before i have to report to my school . . .

welcome and please stick around=]

as a general rule, DO NOT lie on your application. in the online apps you usually have to fill out everything and the page wont let you proceed unless you answer something. however, if you put your country of origin in the citizenship box, then you'll have to provide ur green card number your ur visa status. clearly you have neither.

it's best if you print off and fill out a paper application and mail that in.

There's a lot of students without SSN, most online applications allow you to leave the SSN field blank. You could always call them up.

paper application is the way to go. What state are you in? Certain states let undocumented students pay in-state if you lived in that state and graduated from a highschool. You should look into that. And dont be too frustrated. I went through the application procces in 2007 and it can be pretty frustrating. You can even call up most school and demand to talk to a Admission counselor and ask how you should proceed. I got in Rutgers but i had to apply as International student but when it came to filing for F-1 and w/e, I just didn't do it. Colleges really dont care that much abotu your status...only that you have enough money to pay.

i live in georgia. . . . i think i might try to call up the colleges to ask about their policies in regarding undocumented students. is it a good idea? im afraid to get rejected, but i think i will still try. . .
by the way, did u put f1 as your visa type when applying or ? how did u apply as an international student?

i really need help. . . . i hope next year the dream act will pass soon after obama become president , so that i could make it before going anywhere. . .
cuz if im not able to get into any american colleges, i will have to return to my hometown for college, which i dont want . . . . .and there is no turning back . . and i will have to leave my friends. . .

You're not an international student, so don't put that on your application. Talk to the college adviser.
I know in the ab540 form you have an option where it says that you're an undocumented immigrant. "I am NOT a nonimmigrant alien (including, but not limited to. a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or an alien without lawful immigration status)"

try finding something like that along those lines, but again talk to your school counselor.

Call all the colleges you've listed and ask them about their policy regarding undocumented students. They should give you a better idea about how to apply to the school. We can only give you general information, since it really varies from school to school (or state to state). But one thing, you're not an international student, and you should never ever put in the application that you're a legal resident if you aren't one. However, even though you're not an international student, you might have to pay as one (I'm one of those lucky ones ).

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
