Are you from San Antonio too? awesome!
Well honestly I've been wondering the same thing, I always thought there was a checkpoint to get to Miami but I don't know why I think that.

don't have an answer about the check points but I was wondering what kind of a valid Texas ID you have and how to get one?

I have a valid DL from TX, too. If you have a valid tourist visa you were able to get one. But unfortunately DPS rules changed and you can't get a DL anymore without proving legal residency. I guess me and butterfly were just lucky enough to get it right before the rule change.

Summer of '07 we drove from NV to Florida. All the way up to NM my dad didn't have a US driver's license. After NM (where we got out license) we continued all the way down to Miami, and here we are now. Just a small detail, we were hauling a Uhaul trailer (which contained half of our house inside) and we had our dog with us in the car. It was a happy trip.

Riddle

Lol. I forgot! No, no checkpoints! At all!

Plus, you have a valid ID, so you should be fine.

Look. One more of my experiences...Back in...'07 I went on a road trip from Vegas to California with 3 friends...And, because I was the only guy, they made me drive all the way to Cali from Vegas and back. I didn't have a license. And yes, it was a short distance, but no checkpoints either.

Wait...you're Cuban? and your illegal?...how is that possible?

And I LOVE Ropa Vieja :P

my question is, im finally letting myself go. my friends have planned a trip from san antonio to florida, its a small road trip. although i was fine with the idea i cant help but think, from point a to b there will be checkpoints, even though im not going anywhere near the border, but the coast i can't seem to think about this.

do any of you know if there are any checkpoints or stops from san antonio to florida??

i just need some kind of reassurance, thats all. thanks.

(i know theres a thread about this but i kinda wanted to explain my situation)
I have made this trip and can tell you there I did not run into any checkpoints at all.

If you fly its even easier valid ID = no questions asked.

I've travelled all up & down the east coast from NY to FL & back, & then to TX when I moved there, never experienced a checkpoint ever.
