So I've been reading around and found out that DACA status doesn't make you eligible for FAFSA. Well, before I knew that, I applied for FAFSA anyway and it's being processed right now. My biggest fear is that I will get fined or be in jail because on the signature page, there's a line that said If you lie on the application, you could get fined up to $20,000 or put in jail or both. Do you guys think anything will happen? I put my parents information in the FAFSA too. Since they didn't have SS#, i just put all zeros because thats what it told me to do. I'm kinda scared.

Did you put you were a "non-eligible non-citizen" because tht is what DACA recipients are considered. So if you put that, you should be fine. If however you didn't, call their office and request to fix your application with that information.

Ohh... Alright I guess I should call them to fix it. However, why should I even apply if I can't get Financial Aid anyway?

The only reasons why anyone in our status would be filling a FAFSA would be if the school requires it and even then you make sure they do not sent that to the federal government. So, whats why you should apply for it. Other than this, do not apply for FAFSA

You sure it's not the CA Dream Act? It's really similar to the fafsa form. At the end of the CA dream act form it also says about the $20k fine

No its not. I don't live in CA and I filled the form on the FAFSA website. But another question though, now that I know I'm not eligible for Financial Aid. How am I supposed to pay for college? I don't want to swim in debt for the rest of my life. I also don't want to be working in McDonalds. Is there something/someone that can help me?

Thats how most of us pay for college... work our ass off and sometimes our parents also work their ass off for us.

There are some private financial aids that are available for us.
