Need i remind you that we're on a Executive Order, and like your drivers license its a privilege to be here as we are, not a right.

This is an election year also. If you do your research they're on February 8th for renewals.

prepare for the worse.
I get that DACA is a privilege, not a right. But does that mean that we should just say "oh well, I guess we just have to wait" and then before you know it, it's 2017??? The point is that we paid money for the application, and were told to apply within a certain time frame. Now thousands of cards are at risk of expiring (if they haven't already) and no one at USCIS seems to give a care about it. Why even bother to apply at 150 days if it's gonna take 6+ months to approve?

Renewals involve far less work than an initial application, so there is no justification as to why they're taking as long as they are. I'm beginning to wonder if they've started to devote less resources to DACA on purpose. With the political landscape the way it is nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised.

I got the same email from uscis.gov, plus since we are paying we should have the right to say something it's not like they are adjudicating our case for free.

I completely agree with you. It's important that we bring attention to the inadequacies of USCIS. As one of the previous posters mentioned, people have and will lose their jobs due to delayed DACA renewals which can affect their much needed medical insurance plans and ability to pay their homes. We fought long and hard just to get a temporary reprieve like DACA, and it shouldn't die at the hands of bureaucratic inefficiencies.

zone2oo0's opinion is misguided. Yes, it is a privilege to be here: DACA folks are all familiar with the great educational opportunities provided to us, which we we have used to contribute back to the American workforce with our expertise in fields like tech, medical, education, etc. However, where you fall astray is believing that our lives and careers should be at the mercy of how efficiently USCIS decides to perform. The delays are not necessarily political, but rather a bureaucratic problem plaguing USCIS. As you pointed out, this an executive order, and if USCIS cannot execute their mission then shame on them.

At the end of the day, you and I are both DACAmented and should be working with the same mindset of pushing for permanent legalization. I am willing to bring attention to these delays in whatever possible way I can so that you and others ahead of me do not lose jobs over severe renewal delays like I've experienced.

Should I just cancel my infopass appointment? Seems like I will just be waisting my time trying to get an extension.

Thing is, we are at their mercy.. and there's nothing you can do about it other than to contact your congressmen and be at their mercy too, the situation we're in HAS to be fixed, i get it but it's not going to happen any time soon. So with that being said, i hope you and everybody else who's careers are on the line get approved soon and then after that find a way to legalize the right way. In the mean time, prepare.

What if Trump wins and first day he takes office gets rid of DACA? What would we do? I'll tell you what i'll do, i'll keep doing the same thing i was doing before DACA, Work and keep on living. Yeah its going to be hard, but hey its a challenge.

Well I tried.. but once again they told me they cannot file any kind of request until it hits 6 months pending which is total BS! At least I got her Agent ID and emailed the Nebraska service center directly.

Ugh so frustrating!

The person that I spoke to told me these things:
1. The service center I'm with (NSC) is 3 months behind on their DACA renewal applications.
2. It is very possible that I wouldn't be able to get the renewal for up to 3 months.
3. Because my application is pending simply because of backlog, I wouldn't be accruing any unlawful presence in the meantime.
4. They got rid of the interim EAD about 1.5 years ago.

So... there's that.

Sure, we'll be unemployed or working un-lawfully, but at least we won't be accruing unlawful presences. So there's that, at least.

At this point I would need a miracle to get my EAD approved before Sep which probably wont happen. I check the forum here and there in hopes for good news but it looks like we are going to have to adjust and start all over once they finally get approved.
