Today I was supposed to take the behind the wheel test, but someone from the dmv called me to tell me that my appointment was cancelled due to the reason that there was no instructor so I made a new appointment, but its for next Tuesday. My question is should I just show up at the DMV and wait in line without an appointment and tell them that im here for a behind the wheel test or should I just wait for my appointment as schedule?

No walk ins for behind the wheel. You can walk in to apply for DL and ID but not the behind the wheel

So yesterday I applied for the SS. The lady who assisted me was very nice. She told me that the number usually will be generated overnight so I should call again the next day.

Today I called them the first thing in the morning. They told me they have my numbers already, and they can give me the printout. So I went to the ss office, picked up the printout, and then I finally went to dmv.

It was one hour of waiting at the dmv. I filled up the application for both my CA ID and DL. Again, the guy who did my application was really nice. He joked about how I made his day easier because I got a good handwriting lol. Then he told me to go to take my picture. After taking the picture I did my written test. Missed three questions, signed paper here and there and voila now I got my driving permit. I'm planning to take the behind the wheel this Friday

That's awesome!! I can't wait till I can go take my test, both permit and driving. I'm already taking the practice tests online. Unfortunately I'm still waiting to get approved, I'm hoping they do it within the first couple of weeks of February. I'm crossing my fingers.

Hey guys, bit of an update; I finally got around to taking the behind the wheel test, passed with no issues. Unfortunately, my temporary license says just that "temporary", therefor I am expecting my DL /ID to be valid for only 2 years. I went to the Bellflower DMV btw, I guess this goes to show that it just depends on who processes your application and not the actual DMV office itself.

Also, the status of my application still "does not match their records" in their online system. I applied for the ID/DL 01-02-13 two weeks ago, I figured I would get at least my ID card in the mail by now.
