Walmart Background Check?

Hey guys, so I'm a bit paranoid. After applying online for jobs, I finally got a call back from Walmart. Everything went well, I did 2 interviews in one day, they really liked me and they offered me the job on the spot. The thing is they do a background and drug test which normally wouldn't be a problem, but I've heard of people having trouble passing the background check or what not due to the fact that our socials are so relatively new. It hasn't been that long, Interview was Tuesday and I took the drug test on Wednesday, but I was wondering if anybody had any experience with Walmart. I just want to make sure if I'ma run into a problem due to my social I can take action ASAP and not wait for some letter in the mail etc etc. So if anybody has been through it with them please share. I'ma call them tomorrow anyways and keep you guys updated as well.

Sidenote: I have no criminal history and I don't do drugs.

Update: Hey guys so I just got a call today from Walmart telling me everything went through perfectly and to schedule orientation for tomorrow. After doing some research I found out that they use Sterling Infosystems to do their background checks. So if your company uses them you probably shouldn't have a problem. Btw I've had my social for around 8 months if it makes a difference.

They will let you know if there is some sort of discrepancy, and you should be able to simply fix the issue with a phone call. To put your mind at ease, though, given when your EAD was approved you should be fine, as its almost been a year. I received mine in December and started working 2 weeks ago no problem.

Mind if I ask what you put down for experience I've been applying everywhere I can but don't have any experience what so ever and I haven't heard anything back from anyone. I don't know what to put down on the applications. What should I put on a Resume?

I got my job through a friend suggestion to sign up for a local staffing agency. I got placed in the same company as him. I'm bounced around from department to department as needed. Most of the people here use the assignment as a stop-gap while they look for something better. Others like it and stay after being offered a permanent position and receive more training and better pay.

Your "skills" will determine more or less where you get placed. You still have to submit a resume, but not having experience isn't necessarily a bad thing at these places, since companies contact them whenever they are in need of quick hires for short-term or long-term projects. In addition to the resume you'll also likely have a sit-down or phone conversation with someone regarding the job descriptions and they'll ask more details regarding your skills, so they know a job is a good match for you.

From the chats I've had with most of the people where I work (many of whom are students, either in HighSchool or in College) it is a great way to get your feet wet. A lot of the guys here had no experience prior to starting with the company.

I went to one and the lady told me that they only took people who had experience and since I obviously don't have any I just left very disappointed. Should I look for other agencies I went to a different one and it was the same but this time the lady told me to do it online but it still asks for a resume. Should I just lie.

The problem with lying is you may be asked for an employer reference. This can stop your application dead in its tracks. Plus if you are caught in a lie (depending on the company) you could be blacklisted by their HR department.

I would defo try somewhere else if possible. Try for any General Labor job if you have to, make that known to the agencies if needed. Also try places that are likely to be in need of a seasonal infusion, like Home Depot or small business landscapers.

If all else fails, start networking. I took a sociology elective last semester, and my book explained that speaking to people with whom you have a rapport (trust you to an extent) but are not necessarily a close friend are the ones who are most likely to help land a job (acquaintances preferred, as they reach into a whole different network you and your close friends aren't a part of.)

It won't be a guarantee, but it'll at least get you on the "to interview" list instead of being automatically pre-rejected by the online application filters or tossed if you don't have anything in employment history.

I actually didn't put down anything nor did I type a resume. I've never worked before so there wasn't really anything to put down. I guess I got lucky because they just recently turned the walmart Into a super walmart so they were looking for a lot of people and I'm also only 18 so I doubt anybody would expect me to have a lot of work experience.

I applied a Thursday, got a call on Sunday, and got interviewed on Tuesday/got offered the job. I suggest giving them a call. That'll probably show them that you're interested in the job and could bring attention to your application which they might have overlooked.
